On Friday, November 7th, Strangelove is proud to throw an official release party for REPO! The Genetic Opera - a futuristic tale of horror that fuses Rocky Horror Picture Show with Blade Runner.
Contrary to what was previously announced, members of the cast will not be able to attend. But we're making up for that with some incredible prizes for the winners of our COSTUME CONTEST. Dress in your finest goth/dead girl/medical fetish/futuristic ware, and you could be taking home CDs and poster flats autographed by members of the cast, passes to see Repo! at the Lumiere Theatre (California at Polk), or tickets to see OHGR (of Skinny Puppy and Repo!) at Slim's on November 21st! Photos of the winners will be posted on Repo! website, as well as in the Strangelove photo gallery.
In the back room, DJs Tomas Diablo and Joe Radio (Death Guild) will be spinning the best Dark Electro, Industrial, New Wave and Goth. And in the front room, Strangelove is thrilled to reunite DJs Fact50 (Debauchery) and Lexor (most recently he filled in for Intoner at the last Death Guild at the Glas Kat). The last time they spun together was at a Strangelove back in December of 2006!
Make sure to check out the trailer: www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/repo/
Strangelove is every first Friday at the CAT CLUB (Folsom and 8th), with different themes and guests every month. There's lots of room to dance and socialize, and if you keep dancing, we keep the party going until 3AM!
Drink Special: The Zydrate

Repo! The Genetic Opera is a Victorian Gothic tale of tragedy, greed, corruption and revenge, given the structure of a classical Italian opera and then set in a grim near-future worthy of Blade Runner. Widespread organ failure plagued human society until GeneCo arrived to provide the salvation of financed organ transplants. However, GeneCo retained the right to repossess organs that were defaulted on, paving the way for legal murder by GeneCo-employed "repo men." And the introduction of an addictive surgical painkiller (Zydrate) and massive advertising propaganda ensured that people would continue to receive surgeries, even those they did not need or could not afford them.
Repo! The Genetic Opera features Ogre (from Skinny Puppy), Anthony Head (Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Sarah Brightman, Paris Hilton, Paul Sorvino, Alexa Vega (the young cutie from the Spy Kids movies is now 20!), Bill Moseley (who's resume includes Army of Darkness and all of Rob Zombie's films) and writer Terrance Zdunich.

Re: Friday, November 7th: An Official Release Party for 'REPO! The Genetic Opera'
Wed, November 5, 2008 - 9:05 AMSad news... DJ Joe Radio is currently in the hospital, and will probably not be able to DJ at Friday's Strangelove. But Starr from Bondage-a-Go-Go has graciously offered to fill in for him, and we're glad to have her! Joe Radio and Starr were actually the guest DJs at Strangelove's first night at Julie's Supper Club ("Monster Housewarming", April of 2007, which was also Starr's last gig as "Nurse Glitch")
There will be a big ol' get well card at Friday's Strangelove - please join me in wishing Joe Radio a speedy recovery!

Re: Friday, November 7th: An Official Release Party for 'REPO! The Genetic Opera'
Mon, November 10, 2008 - 6:27 PMBig thanks to everyone who came to Strangelove's Repo! Release Party. We were up against Bat's Day AND the Prop 8 protests, and still managed to bring in a decent crowd. Thanks to the front room DJs Fact50 and Lexor, and of course to Starr who was filling in for Joe Radio (who could not be there for health reasons) in the back room with me.
Congratulations to our costume contest winners:
David, Annie, and Steve: strangelove.tlr13.com/gallery...o_01.jpg
Jason McArthur: strangelove.tlr13.com/gallery...o_02.jpg
They took home tickets to see Oghr (Friday, November 21st at Slim's), movie passes for Repo! The Genetic Opera, and poster flats autographed by members of the cast (including Paris Hilton). They certainly deserved it for their amazing outfits!
Check out more photos from the party here: strangelove.tlr13.com/gallery/v/sl2008/
